摘要: Abstract In complex dynamic systems like fisheries, recognizing fishing-effort responses is as critical understanding the biology of exploited species for making sensible management decisions. highly seasonal it theoretically possible an “interannual bionomic equilibrium” to develop under open-access, where fleet dynamics may result in balanced year-to-year harvesting due decreasing income per time fishing biomass declines, without endangering sustainability stock. However, some conditions, this interannual equilibrium can be pathologically low leading overfishing and amplification extinction risks. Here we draw three cases from short-lived fast-growing invertebrate fisheries illustrate two distinct effort response dynamics: (a) that lead healthy equilibrium; (b) which remains profitable over entire season, hence, allowing fleets maintain a high throughout season. Analyzing long-term within-year catch data, found both Gulf Mexico shrimp North Territory giant crab are likely currently at equilibria, while certain socioeconomic drivers enable Kuwait fishery through shrimping Our findings suggest input controls less effective exhibit proportional declining stock abundance. Conversely, if not regulated, abundance-insensitive could pose biological risks habitat destruction. Therefore, emphasize common-property scrutinized distinguish factors might undermine resource sustainability.
