摘要: Microwave irradiation focused on the head of small rodents is now widely used as a means more accurately measuring acetylcholine, choline, cyclic AMP, and several other important brain constituents. Because its probable neurotransmitter role rapid turnover, similar approach was taken to study histamine. Histamine measured by modified radio-enzymatic method found be nearly tripled in brains from microwave treated rats, compared decapitation controls (124 vs 42 ng/g). Possible explanations include microwave-induced inactivation histamine breakdown, redistribution previously unmeasured histamine, microwave- induced histidine decarboxylation. Brain remained unchanged up 30 min after heated decapitated rats also had elevated levels, indicating that levels do not represent remainder rapidly depleting pool. No evidence for found. Furthermore, did enhance formation (3H)histamine intraventricular C3H)histidine administration, lack It concluded elevation rat probably artifactual, although mechanism responsible this phenomenon remains obscure.
