摘要: Introduction: Obesity may influence postoperative outcome after tumor surgery. We evaluated the impact of patients’ body mass index (BMI) on peri- and morbidity following radical cystectomy for bladder cancer. Patients Methods: 390 consecutive patients who underwent due to cancer from January 1986 December 2004 were reviewed. According WHO criteria, divided into normal weight (NW, 45.6%), overweight (OW, 44.4%) obese (10.0%) subgroups. The BMI was associated time surgery, amount intraoperative blood units, TNM stage, complication rate as well overall survival. Results: increased with degree obesity 330 min; OW, 355 p = 0.007). Between NW OW no significant differences noted in respect transfusion 3.0; 2.0; 0.47), stage (pTis–pT2b: 42.6 vs. 48.6%; pT3a–4: 38.2 27.2%; pN+: 20.2 24.2%) complications, except bleeding, which more common (p 0.02). Mean survival times showed between receiving ileal conduits (5-year rate: 34.0 41.1%; 0.140) or neobladders 65.1 70.8%; 0.127). Conclusions: Increased poses a greater challenge surgical interventions such patients. However, our series, intra- not significantly elevated Overall reduced compared Therefore, is an exclusion criterion
