Perceptions, Barriers, and Strategies Towards Nutrition Counseling in Healthcare Clinics: A Survey Among Health Care Providers and Adult Patients

摘要: Nutrition counseling, although effective, is limited in clinics due to various barriers. The objectives of this study were (1) develop a survey and (2) assess providers’ patients’ nutrition knowledge, barriers, strategies towards counseling. This descriptive was conducted 7 family medicine the South Eastern United States. A 15-item multi-response developed for providers (n = 48) 14-item patients (n = 185). Surveys distributed patients. Responses analyzed using RedCap Excel v10. Results indicated that 98.5% 87% agreed following nutritious diet important overall health. Providers time (87.5%) uncertainty resources available (35.4%) prohibited them from providing counseling clinic. Patients identified lack healthy recipe ideas (36.6%) cost purchasing foods (35.5%) as their main barriers adhering diet. Tools provide by dietitian on site, education materials, community-based nutrition/cooking classes. grocery store coupons/discounts sample meal plans tools consume more differed types help one perceived needing interactive such classes referral see whereas wanted non-interactive coupons plans.
