摘要: Many patients with human papillomavirus (HPV)-related head and neck squamous cell carcinoma present initially cervical nodal metastasis. Fine needle aspiration (FNA) of the disease might be only diagnostic material available for p16 immunohistochemistry (IHC) HPV testing. The current study aims to evaluate IHC in FNA establish guidelines its interpretation. percentage intensity staining were examined 60 matched surgical cases. Cytomorphologic features included analysis. was correlated results seen specimens situ hybridization (ISH). Analysis different thresholds demonstrated that threshold 10% tumor positivity had best overall concordance rate (κ = 0.650) HPV-ISH 0.714). Applying recommended (70%) on materials resulted low sensitivity (39%) negative predictive value (26%). In comparison specimens, 6/46 cases (13%) falsely p16. All 6 associated necrotic background, two (33%) lacked large clusters, one (17%) cellularity. should not used cytology materials. cutoff immunostain showing our series is 10%. When a repeat stain specimen avoid false-negative diagnosis.
