摘要: Glass-ceramic composites are considered important candidates for load bearing orthopaedic applications owing to their combined salient features of bioactivity and mechanical strength. Herein, we report the impact ceria (CeO2) additions on structural behaviour ZrO2-SiO2 binary oxides as a glass-ceramic composite hard tissue replacements. A wide range system have been performed via sol-gel synthesis. The synthesized compositions is investigated at elevated temperatures using combination XRD, Raman spectroscopy, TEM SEM. stabilization tetragonal zirconia (t-ZrO2) CeO2 in presence an amorphous SiO2 matrix under heat treatment up 1300 °C was confirmed. t-ZrO2 phase stabilised through Ce4+ substitution 20 wt% additions, above this crystallization occurs matrix. morphological ceramic reinforced glass presented with showing properties comparable commercial biomaterial systems.
