摘要: Background Laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy (LDN) is a recently developed procedure, the performance of which needs to be studied. Given reported advantages in donors, this study looks at graft outcome and ureteral complications recipients kidneys procured by open (ODN) versus LDN. Methods The LDN consisted 193 patients since 3/27/96. A total 168 ODN from 1991 1998 served as controls. Immunosuppression protocols were similar for both groups. Results Two-year survival was 98% 96%, respectively. patient 97%, incidence delayed function mean serum creatinine 3 12 months However, number that required operative repair significantly higher compared recipients, 7.7% (n=15) vs. 0.6% (n=1) respectively (P=0.03). Ureteral stenting an additional 3.1% (n=6) 2.4% (n=4) (P=NS). There was, however, learning curve with time. For first 130 patients, 20 recorded, whereas only one occurred more recent 63 Conclusions complication rate has improved over time technical causes have been identified. We noted significant improvement viability using endogastrointestinal anastomosis instrument on ureter peri-ureteral tissue. therefore excellent alternative ODN. Identification hazards unique technique critical before its broader application.
