摘要: Aim To study if the caliber of upper airway, measured by CT, allows us to distinguish patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) from healthy people. Patients and methods Sixteen OSAS (with an apnea-hypopnea index >10) 39 volunteers were studied. Polysomnography CT airways during awake periods performed in both groups. We used third-generation equipment (Toshiba model TCT 600QT). The area nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx (in inspiration expiration), uvula diameter, retropharyngeal tissue evaluated. simultaneous identification variables that differentiate between control groups was determined a multivariate discriminant model. Results men greater than those (10.3±3.6 mm vs 6.4±2.7 mm; p Conclusions could play important role studying airway OSAS. determination be useful procedure evaluate
