摘要: Based on evanescent-wave guiding properties of nanowire waveguides, we propose to use single-mode subwavelength-diameter silica nanowires for optical sensing. Phase shift the guided mode caused by index change is obtained solving Maxwell's equation, and used as a criterion sensitivity estimation. Nanowire sensor employing wire-assembled Mach-Zehnder structure modeled. The result shows that nanowires, especially those fabricated taper drawing fibers, are promising developing miniaturized sensors with high sensitivity.
