摘要: Abstract Insects can navigate efficiently in both novel and familiar environments, this requires flexiblity how they are guided by sensory cues. A prominent landmark, for example, ellicit strong innate behaviours (attraction or menotaxis) but also be used through learning as a specific directional cue to sustain navigation memory. However, the mechanisms that allow pathways co-exist, interact override each other largely unknown. Here we propose model behavioural integration based on neuroanatomy of central complex (CX) adapted control landmark behaviours. We consider reward signal provided either an attraction landmarks long-term visual memory modulates formation local vector CX. Using operant strategy simulated agent exploring simple arena world with single cue, show short-term generated support learned steering behaviour. In addition, architecture is consistent observed effects unilateral mushroom bodies (MB) lesions ants cause reversion suggest CX interpreted transforming rewarding (positive negative) signals into geometrical attractiveness (or repulsion) mapping environment. discuss scheme might represent ideal way combine multisensory information gathered during exploration environment optimized integration.
