Prevalence of Trichomonas vaginalis infection among students in some tertiary institutions in Edo State, Nigeria

摘要: Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted parasitic disease of which active single female students higher institution learning are at risk infection. A total 946 and 656 male from University Benin, Ambrose Alli University, Auchi Polytechnic, College Eduation, Igueben in Edo State, were examined for the presence Trichomonas vaginalis vaginal swab urine samples using light microscope. Overall, prevalence infection was 2% as no positive case recorded students. Among positives, Polytechnic had highest (2.92%) indicated number that do not use condom during sex. These results clearly reaffirm need to regularly engage protected sex so reduce infection.Keywords: vaginalis; students; State; Nigeria.
