摘要: BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Some Japanese encephalitis (JE) virus strains have been placed in group II based on the loss of reactivity against Hs (H = HI positive; s JE specific) monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) haemagglutination-inhibition (HI) test employing sucrose acetone (SA) extracted antigens. Also acetone-fixation cells infected with some results immunofluorescence (IF) specific MAbs. The present study was undertaken to elucidate effect haemagglutination (HA) epitopes expressed 'E' glycoprotein virus. METHODS Porcine kidney (PS) were (2 I Indian strains, 5 and one neutralization-escape variant 733913 strain). complement fixation (CF) tests carried out both polyethylene glycol (PEG) precipitated SA antigens RESULTS Employing PEG antigens, strain G9473 showed titres ranging from 1:40 1:160 all four HsMAbs 641686 (1:160) MAbs (Hs-1) by whereas their did not react at all. In contrast, CF positive presence HsMAbs. shown confirmed blocking HA activity respective MAb. though negative test, assay. Interestingly, non-HI which reaction Also, additional (Yoken), Sri Lankan (691004) two (755468 641686) detected either or surface IF.
