摘要: The Met Office introduced the assimilation of radar-derived rainfall data into its operational mesoscale model in April 1996. Here we report on subsequent experience, involving impact studies to measure benefit and sensitivity forecasts temporal frequency data. It is found that a monthly timescale, from can be detected at forecast range 12 hours some months, an exceptional was after 15 one case. Increasing 3-hourly hourly improves first 6 forecast. There are plans extend coverage radar available model, take better account error characteristics surface precipitation rate estimates.
