摘要: Heat in various forms has been exploited by mankind for therapeutic purposes since ancient times. The Egyptians (~3000 b.c.) were the first to use cautery against tumors and nonmalignant diseases(1). Hindus (~2000 used control surface lesions during Aryan civilization.(2) importance of application heat Greek civilization is reflected preceding aphorism attributed Hippocrates (460–357 b.c.). He recommended (with a red-hot iron) small many other diseases(3–5) using heated metals or lenses remained popular among medical community until middle nineteenth century, when more sophisticated methods elevating local tissue temperatures became available (e.g., diathermy ultrasound).
