摘要: Objective: To determine the difference in Blood Pressure (BP) readings taken before, during and after clinic encounter. Study Design: Descriptive study. Place Duration of Study: Cardiology Clinic, The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, from January to August 2013. Methodology: Hypertensive normotensive participants aged ≥ 18 years were recruited. Pre-clinic BP was measured by a nurse in-clinic physician. After 15 minutes, two post-clinic at 1 minute interval. All using Omron HEM7221-E. Results: Out 180 participants, males 57% 130 (71%) hypertensive. Mean SBP (Systolic BP) preclinic, in-clinic, 2 were: 126 ± 20 mmHg, 131 23 mmHg 121 21 respectively (p < 0.001). DBP (Diastolic pre-clinic, 77 12 81 13 79 11 Conclusion: setting may significantly be lowest reading encounter, making unreliable diagnose or manage hypertension.
