摘要: In earlier work, a phosphorylated derivative of muramic acid was detected upon amino analysis hydrolysates pneumococcal C polysaccharide. This substance has now been identified as 6-phosphate by periodate oxidation, followed the identification glycolaldehyde phosphate in oxidation mixture. Muramic found cell walls obtained from all eight other species gram-positive bacteria examined. It accounts for 7 to 39% total present. cannot be membrane or cytoplasm Streptococcus, nor can it two gram-negative analyzed. organisms studied, Dipiococcus pneumoniae and evidence that isolated originally part phosphodiester bond which cross-linked mucopeptide polymer with specific polysaccharide wall.
