摘要: • Neutrophils (polymorphonuclear leukocytes [PMNs]) are thought to contribute the pathophysiology of adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) by release toxic oxygen metabolites. This study investigated superoxide production circulating and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) PMNs in a rat model ARDS induced chronic Escherichia coli (lipopolysaccharide) endotoxemia. Superoxide was stimulated fmet-leu-phe, opsonized zymosan, phorbol myristate acetate. Circulating BAL from lipopolysaccharide-infused rats compared with control primed for nonselective increased production. The not only partially on adherence, they concomitantly have depressed response phagocytic (opsonized zymosan) stimulus. These PMN responses may explain both pulmonary injury susceptibility infection seen patients ARDS. ( Arch Surg 1988;123:1491-1495)
