摘要: The responses of stream mesocosm communities to a linear alcohol ethoxylate (LAE) surfactant were studied (i) assess the relationship between laboratory and field-scale tests; (ii) develop NOECs for responding taxa; (iii) provide data an aquatic risk assessment ethoxylates. LAE was mixture C9--11 alcohols with average six ethylene oxide (EO) units per mole alcohol. Twelve mesocosms used test effects five concentrations on periphyton, macrophytes, invertebrates fish during 30-day exposure. Vascular plants unaffected at 11.4 mg L−1, highest concentration tested, but various periphyton parameters altered lower concentrations. attributed grazing by resident invertebrates. Invertebrate densities affected above 2.0 L−1. Fathead minnows particularly sensitive NOEC 0.73 L−1 egg production larval survival. Bluegill less than fathead minnows, survival growth 5.7 results similar those obtained using single-species tests
