摘要: The twelve Mycoplasma species known to glide on solid surfaces all lack surface flagella or pili, and no genes homologous motility systems have been found in the five genomes sequenced date. Recent studies fastest of these species, M. mobile, examined novel proteins involved gliding mechanism, binding targets surfaces, energy sources mechanical characteristics movements. Accordingly, I propose a working model for called centipede (power stroke) model, which 'leg' repeat cycle release from surface, using ATP. Another 'inchworm model' suggested structural human pathogen, pneumoniae, is also discussed.
