Two studies examining environmental predictors of heavy drinking by college students.

摘要: Two sequential studies are presented that examine the validity of a set environmental variables to predict heavy drinking at college students' most recent occasions. Random telephone interviews (n = 1609, n 400) graduate and undergraduate students attending two large public universities in southwestern United States were conducted during three separate surveys 2000 2001. An original interview schedule was used it included measures examined characteristics events, motivations for drinking, demographics, alcohol consumption. Using nonparametric exploratory confirmatory discriminant analyses distinguish between episodic nonheavy function identified following variables: (1) having many people intoxicated an event, (2) illicit drugs available (3) BYOB events and, (4) playing games event. The these among supported subsequent study examining sample from same student population. Environmental factors can be useful experienced by students. Prevention programs would benefit targeting such combination with more traditional individual-level approaches.
