摘要: Abstract The mechanical behaviour of the argillaceous rock considered in France as a potential host for nuclear waste repository strongly depends on water content. In order to quantify dependence properties humidity, an experimental setup that combines hydromechanical loadings with optical observations and digital image correlation (DIC) has been developed. It allows investigation material from sample scale (cm) down micrometric (100 μm). Using this system, shrinkage swelling at various constant uniaxial stresses, linear different moisture levels, were experimentally studied. A quasi-linear relation between relative ranging 39% 85%, deformation during dehydration rehydration is found both (cm), mesoscopic few hundred micrometres. This applied stress much less higher axial compressive stress. addition, decrease Young's modulus (normal bedding plane) increase humidity observed.
