Synthesis and compressive fracture behavior of a CuZr-based bulk amorphous alloy with Ti addition

摘要: Cu46Zr46Al4.8Ti3.2 bulk metallic glass (BMG) was successfully synthesized by copper-mold casting and the mechanical properties at room temperature were measured compression tests. The structure thermal characteristics analyzed XRD DSC, fracture surface morphology examined SEM. glassy alloy with 4 mm in diameter shows an high strength of 1 960 MPa, improvement about 20% compared to ultimate Cu46Zr46Al8 BMG, which suggests that Ti addition improves strength. different degrees adiabatic heating induce four types features: a vein-like structure, elongated striated vein pattern, melting smooth regions. patterns as well region show enormous strain energy is released, causes significant heating. Furthermore, many micro-cracks observed are caused strong shear force. In addition, force leads bands lateral surface.
