Low Latency Software Rate Limiters for Cloud Networks

摘要: A lot of recent work has focused on reducing in network queueing latency datacenter networks. In this paper, we focus a less explored topic --- increases caused by rate limiters the end-host. First, show that can be increased an order magnitude cloud To solve problem, extend ECN marking into and use congestion control algorithm DCTCP. Unfortunately, while reduces latency, it also leads to throughput oscillation. Thus, solution is not sufficient. analyze specific reasons software oscillation problem. Finally, propose two potential solutions design achieve stable high low latency.
