摘要: The pathogenesis of the abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) shows several hallmarks atherosclerotic and atherothrombotic disease, but comprises an additional, predominant feature proteolysis resulting in degradation destabilization wall. This review aims to summarize current knowledge on AAA development, involving accumulation neutrophils intraluminal thrombus their central role creating oxidative proteolytic environment. Particular focus is placed controversial heme oxygenase 1/carbon monoxide nitric oxide synthase/peroxynitrite, which may exert both protective damaging effects development aneurysm. Treatment indications as well surgical pharmacological options for therapy are discussed light recent reports.
