The effect of continuous bite jumping on the dentofacial complex: a follow-up study after Herbst appliance treatment of Class II malocclusions

摘要: The effect of continuous bite jumping on the dentofacial complex was investigated in ten consecutive Class II, Division 1 malocclusion cases treated with Herbst appliance. All patients were growing boys a skeletal II jaw base relationship. Ten same age and morphology served as control group. Dental casts profile roentgenograms analysed before treatment, after six months treatment when appliance removed twelve post-treatment. All malocclusions successfully by jumping. Twelve post-treatment normal sagittal dental arch relationships found 7 cases, while partial relapse seen 3 resulting from unstable cuspal interdigitations treatment. Sagittal mandibular growth accelerated During length SNB angle increased significantly more than group. No adverse changes during 12 treatment. The influence maxillary appeared to be reversible. Maxillary prognathism (SNA angle) reduced but follow-up period caught up SNA returned almost pretreatment values.
