摘要: The management of upper-extremity burn contractures is a major challenge for plastic surgeons. After approval by the Food and Drug Administration, artificial skin (Integra) has been available in Taiwan since 1997. From January 1997 to July 1999, authors applied 13 severely burned patients reconstruction their upper extremities, resulting an increased range motion joints improved quality. An additional benefit was rapid reepithelialization donor sites. There were no complications infection throughout therapeutic course, overall results satisfactory. During 2-year study, scar condition monitored between 8 24 months, good appearance pliable obtained according Vancouver Scar Scale. According this evaluation Oriental turgor, normal pigmentation restored about 6 months after resurfacing procedure. For with severe burns whom there insufficient full-thickness graft or another appropriate flap revision, Integra alternative. two concerns dealing are (1) 10- 14-day waiting period maturation neo-dermis, necessitating two-stage operation, (2) prevention antibiotics meticulous wound care.
