摘要: Hematemesis, or the vomiting of blood, tends to be seen when hemorrhage is rapid and total volume blood lost greater than a litre. Usually, altered by contact with gastric juice appears as dark brown liquid suspension small elements in juice, called coffee-ground vomit. Its appearance fresh suggests either very loss that bleeding coming from esophagus. Blood passing through intestine also altered, becoming black tarry appearance, which melena. Usually several hundred millilitres must into upper alimentary tract before melena apparent. On occasions, may produced lesions right side colon. There little difficulty diagnosing hematemesis once it has occurred, apart occasional false alarms due digested beetroot raspberry cordial.
