摘要: A high-resolution (∼1.2 km) 3D numerical model was used to analyze the interaction of Northern Current (a right-bounded flow) with Blanes submarine canyon (BC, NW Mediterranean). Although it refers a climatological simulation properly suites our purpose since simulates (NC) mesoscale variability, as well its seasonal variability. Model results were validated satellite sea surface temperature and current-meter data. The simulated NC tends be faster deeper in winter, slower shallower summer. According results, meanders eddies are recurrent BC area produce highly fluctuating three-dimensional circulation patterns within canyon. We found that anticyclonic propagating along current pathway tend deep and, consequently, their effects extend down part BC. also meandering plays key role enhancing vertical motions inside Upwelling downwelling events occurring on timescales 4–20 days associated crests troughs passing over Net upwelling/downwelling accordingly influenced by seasonality. They more predominant while damped Our show importance creating local net strengthen evidence continuous (downwelling favorable) flows can upwelling canyons.
