摘要: Psychostimulant drugs such as amphetamine are prescribed to increase vigilance, suppress appetite, and treat attention disorders, but they powerfully activate the dopamine system have serious abuse potential. Repeated psychostimulant exposure induces neuronal plasticity within mesolimbic system. Here we present evidence that repeated results in a suppression of intrinsic excitability ventral subiculum, hippocampal region activates neurotransmission. We used patch-clamp recordings from brain slices obtained at different times after withdrawal determine long-term effects on subicular excitability. Using several postsynaptic indices sodium channel function, our show is decreased for days, not weeks, exposure. The resulting action potential threshold decrease amplification excitatory synaptic input provide first direct psychostimulants induce output suggest one mechanism by which drug may influence limbic dopamine-dependent learning memory.
