摘要: The Japanese Urological Association has developed Clinical Guidelines for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) men with suspected BPH. This article is an English translation of the abridged version Guidelines. were formulated on basis evidence retrieved from PubMed database between 1995 and 2009, as well other relevant sources. target patients these are BPH, users urologists. A mandatory assessment should include a medical history, physical examination, completion symptom quality life questionnaires, urinalysis, prostate ultrasonography, measurement serum specific antigen postvoid residual urine, uroflowmetry. Optional tests keeping bladder diary, creatinine, upper urinary tract ultrasonography. Care be taken to not overlook coexisting diseases such infections or malignancies that may obscure diagnosis. Treatment consist conservative therapy use medications α1-adrenoceptor antagonists, both. 5α-reductase inhibitors anticholinergic agents considered in enlarged (>30 mL) overactive symptoms (Overactive Bladder Symptom Score ≥6), respectively. Surgical intervention indicated when non-surgical treatments fail provide sufficient symptomatic relief, outlet obstruction highly suspected.
