Thrombi various sizes, comprising fibrin, platelets a few leucocytes erythrocytes, develop damaged surface minimal changes in underlying aortic wall. After intravenous inoculation Staph. most become infected, as shown presence bacterial colonies, wall is markedly inflamed. The inflammatory cells invade base cause swelling plus disruption elastic laminae ulceration luminal some cases. This structural damage appears to be direct result lesions surface.
