Analysis of Technical Efficiency and Rate of Return on Investment in Ports

摘要: This article carries out a comparative technical efficiency analysis of investment in 27 Spanish ports using panel data over 20 years (1986–2005) and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) methodology. Results from the Tobit model suggest that size port has negative impact on total scale ports. The results also show have experienced an improvement production factor which is due exclusively to change since average annual corresponding technological negative. Finally, another result with greater specialisation general cargo (containerized non-containerized cargo) make significantly progress during period analysed.
