摘要: Fos and Jun form a tight heterodimeric complex that activates transcription by AP1 sites. We have recognized two adjacent regions of the A1 activation domain are conserved in protein, we refer to these homologous as homology box 1 (HOB1) 2 (HOB2). Using GAIA chimeras, show HOB1/HOB2 region is an independent which HOB1 HOB2 act cooperatively activate transcription. This cooperativity retained after replacement or with equivalent when duplicated HOB1/HOB1 HOB2/HOB2 combinations generated. In can also cooperate distinct at carboxyl terminus protein. consensus sequence guide, identified HOB2-containing CCAAT/enhancer binding protein (C/EBP) motif yet undefined sequences C/EBP will function even linked HOB1. Thus, represent inert "cooperating modules" combined generate functional domain. Each modules has potential both identical domains. The presence HOB-like three different factors indicates HOB motifs characterize new class These be used now identify other such modular characteristics.
