摘要: We examined patterns of genetic variation in Rousettus madagascariensis from Madagascar and R. obliviosus the Comoros (Grande Comore, Anjouan, Moheli). Genetic distances among individuals on basis 1,130 base pairs mitochondrial cytochrome b (Cytb) locus were estimated specimens collected 17 sites Madagascar, 3 Grande 2 Moheli. observed little nearshore island samples (maximum 1.1%) interisland 1.8%). In contrast, pairwise between different sampled varied 8.5% to 13.2%. For 131 Malagasy animals, 69 unique haplotypes recovered with 86 variable sites, for 44 Comorian individuals, found 30 sites. No haplotype was shared Comoros, adding previous morphological evidence that these populations should be considered separate species. Cytb data showed (including islands) are respectively monophyletic display no geographic structure diversity, strongly supported as sister each other relative Genotypic 6 microsatellite loci confirm lack either tests population differentiation, only significant values Comoro Islands islands). Estimates current historical demographic parameters support expansion both Madagascar. These suggest a more recent rapid comparison greater stability Comoros. On available evidence, open-water crossings approaching 300 km seem rarely traversed by Rousettus, and, if successful, can result isolation subsequent differentiation. DOI: 10.1644/09-MAMM-A-283.1.
