摘要: Breeding dispersal subsequent to nest failure is hypothesised be a behavioural response danger posed by predators. We used histories and locations of male female Snowy Plover Charadrius nivosus nests in northern California over 10-year period examine effects fate, mate fidelity, residency, predator exclosures, age on distance. Within years, females moved median distance 2.2 km after changing mates; males 0.9 km. Between plovers the shortest distances when they retained from prior year were successful hatching eggs (males = 0.2 km, 0.3 km). Both (13.0 km) (2.6 dispersed farther change coincided with year. The observation that most did not disperse far enough move away sites where predators are abundant have strong plover reproductive success suggests effective management will challenging.
