摘要: Doctoral recipients in the biomedical sciences and STEM fields are showing increased interest career opportunities beyond academic positions. While recent research has addressed interests preferences of doctoral trainees for non-academic careers, strategies resources that use to prepare a broad job market (non-academic) poorly understood. The adaptation Social Cognitive Career Theory explicitly highlight interplay contextual support mechanisms, individual search efficacy, self-adaptation processes underscores value attention this explicit phase. Our addresses factors affect confidence with is based on nearly 900 respondents from an NIH-funded survey students postdoctoral fellows at two U.S. universities. Using structural equation modeling, we find pursuing and/or low perceived program goals, have lower development process efficacy (CDSE), receive different levels their advisors/supervisors. We also evidence trainee driven by not interests.
