摘要: Abstract Accurate estimates of tree biomass are strongly required for forest carbon budget and to understand ecosystem dynamics a sustainable management. Existing equations Mediterranean species scarce, stand- site-specific therefore not suitable large scale application. In this study, allometric were developed stone pine (Pinus pinea L.), with relevant ecologic economic interest. A dataset 283 harvested trees was compiled above- belowground from 16 sites in three countries (Italy, Spain, Portugal) representative the species’ geographical distribution. preliminary approach comparing ordinary least squares method mixed model performed order evaluate most appropriate nested data absence calibration data. To quantify sources error associated applying beyond range used develop them, residual analysis conducted. The showed low intra-specific variability aboveground relationships, which relatively insensitive stand site conditions. Significant differences found crown components (needles branches), may be attributed local adaptation, conditions root highly correlated diameter at breast height irrespective origin. Biased when using outside where they developed. new improved accuracy estimates, particularly higher dimension component, being use regional national calculations. It is, up present, complete database worldwide.
