摘要: This article reports efforts toward using real-time earthquake monitoring by the Taiwan Central Weather Bureau to meet needs of seismic early warning. Twenty-three sets strong-motion data from moderate earthquakes (M/. > 5.0) in area are used demonstrate feasibility this goal. For larger than ML 5, epicenters can be reliably determined about 15 sec after arrival P wave at nearest station. The magnitude M L cannot same time frame due incomplete recording shear waves some stations. However, based on first 10 signal (ML10) related as follows: = 1.28 * ML10 -- 0.85 + 0.13. Our results show that system routinely Cen- tral determine and magnitudes 30 occurrence Taiwan. Such information hopefully reduce damage society.
