摘要: Abstract Visits to simulations of real spaces in virtual reality have been proposed as a means for blind people gain spatial knowledge regarding the disposition obstacles within place before actually visiting it. Within present study, different configurations distant and proximity exploration were compared each other, order test whether differences effectiveness efficiency lead changes behaviour, without detrimental impact on cognitive-map quality usefulness. Evidence supports improvements due (p-value = 0.0006). The flat-spotlight distant-configuration entails 53% reduction discovery time (p-value = 0.0027). A trend is observed entailing 38% duration overall stage flat spotlight configuration (p-value = 0.067). Wall-detection alters (p-value = 0.012). Improvements are associated with shorter time. Duration after depends wall-detection effectiveness. Benefits from not enough build better cognitive maps.
