摘要: Arsenic (As) is toxic to most living things. However, plants growing in environments contaminated by this pollutant may exhibit tolerance strategies such as restrictions its absorption and intracellular detoxification. In the present study we compared morphophysiological responses between Borreria verticillata (L.) G.F.W. Mayer (Rubiaceae) populations from an As-contaminated site (CS) a non-contaminated (NCS) order clarify their mechanisms of As detoxification differential metalloid. Plants were grown nutrient solution without addition (control) with 66 µM for 4 days. accumulated plant roots, neither bioaccumulation nor translocation factors differed populations. Exposure metalloid promoted damage morphology anatomy both roots shoots, particularly NCS. These showed more severe phytotoxic symptoms, well greater reduction shoot growth fresh biomass accumulation. CS fewer toxicity symptoms due that favoured scavenging reactive oxygen species (e.g. increases Ca S root concentrations, higher number phenolic crystalliferous idioblasts increased antioxidant enzyme activity) prevention oxidative stress leaves (through superoxide dismutase activity). Thus, verified besides differences P metabolism have been reported literature, are As-tolerant efficiency detoxification, therefore suited revegetation areas.
