摘要: The chronic and sporadic nature of Alzheimer's disease (AD), in which the majority presenting cases are over 65 years age, suggests that compounded injury or long-term exposure to environmental factors is involved aetiology, rather than inherited genetic alterations. Great hope has been placed on identifying a causative infectious agent would present potential for therapeutic preventative vaccines drugs. Although not sole agent, herpes simplex virus type 1 most clearly established pathogen be associated with AD development date. Recent advances have begun suggest mechanisms by this ubiquitous, neurotropic may predispose an individual AD. Such progress should ultimately lead strategies limit predisposing neurological damage potentially reverse process, increasing quality quantity life patient population.
