摘要: Tire shred-soil mixture backfill for use in mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls has several advantages over traditional materials: 1) good drainage, 2) high shear strength, 3) low compacted unit weight and 4) lateral pressure exerted on retaining structures. This work presents the results of laboratory tests performed tire shred-sand mixtures focusing determining properties required their as MSE wall applications. Three sizes shreds are considered: chips with 9.5mm nominal size, 50-to-100-mm 100-to-200-mm length. The optimal mix proportions enhanced mechanical response composite material provided. Segregation materials was investigated various proportions. effects shred mixing ratio interaction between geogrids/ ribbed-metal strips evaluated based a series pullout tests. Results indicate that proportion sand is 25/75 30/70 (tire shred/sand) by weight, equivalent to approximately 40/60 50/50 volume 50-100 mm 100-200mm length, respectively. optimum also ensures negligible segregation components material.
