摘要: Abstract This study describes the hormone induction and larval rearing of wild caught snapper, Pagrus auratus, from Australian waters. Ovulation was induced by injecting human chorionic gonad‐otrophin (hCG) at 1000 IU kg−1. Males females were stripped fertilised eggs incubated 21.5 ± 1°C. At hatch, larvae averaged 3.1 0.09 mm total length (TL) with a 0.6 0.02 yolk‐sac 0.2 oil globule. Feeding on rotifers started Day 6 after hatch initial swim bladder inflation 7. Metamorphosis complete 25 when 8.6 0.5 TL. Larvae functional bladders (52% 15) grew faster than those without bladders. Significant mortalities, predominantly smaller fish (10.3 mm) bladders, occurred 36. About 22% offish survived to harvest 50 (mean fork 22.1 4.8 mm). tolerated temperatures as high 31.5°C. We compared egg development recorded in this th...
