摘要: High-resolution heat-capacity experiments on free-standing films of the liquid-crystal compound 3(10)OBC near smectic-A-hexatic-B phase transition have been conducted. The hexatic-B has found to propagate into smectic-A through a series layer transitions, each appearing be continuous. Furthermore, evolution layer-by-layer transitions is shown inconsistent with recent theory regarding fluctuation-induced forces highly anisotropic smectic phases
