摘要: Solid modeling provides designers with tools for creating, archiving, and inspecting computerized models of mechanical parts manufacturing processes. Recent advances have fostered the hope a shortened design cycle reliable automation an extended domain important applications. Nevertheless, solid modelers still suffer from limited geometric coverage, insufficient reliability performance, inefficient tools. The coverage pertains to topologies, geometries, structures that can be captured in modeler’s representations operations available creating or processing such representations. efficiency algorithms constructing, merging, rendering, interrogating requires maintaining exploiting complex auxiliary data structures. modeler is based on correctness its accuracy which properties represented solids may computed. It hindered by round-off errors approximations often jeopardized inconsistent logical decisions derived numeric calculations. ergonomy, ease use, proportional level derive users’ intent simple intuitive input. further increased raising abstraction manipulating views aggregates functionally related elements, as features. This report presents key components technology discusses how they impact overall efficiency, ergonomy limitations. also recent research aimed at improving topological extending concepts CSG Boundary their non-regularized (sometimes called “non-manifold”) counterparts.
