摘要: The susceptibility of rats with genetically inherited epilepsy to the genesis and consequences secondary temporal lobe is unknown. Here, we induced lithium-pilocarpine status epilepticus (SE) in Genetic Absence Epilepsy Rats from Strasbourg (GAERS) or Wistar audiogenic sensitive (AS) rats. AS needed less pilocarpine than GAERS Non-Epileptic (NERs) develop SE. Sixty six, 40 5% AS, NERs, respectively, died within 24 h after In GAERS, SE prevented occurrence absence seizures for 5 days. Thereafter a limited number low amplitude short duration were recorded. developed limbic 9 days while NERs 36-39 spontaneous motor seizures. Neuronal loss consecutive was similar three strains particularly marked forebrain parahippocampal cortices. conclusion, development focal largely impairs expression genetic background underlying sensitizes strongly further insult compromises their survival.
