摘要: Theoretical and experimental investigations of the dynamic behavior cylindrical liquid storage tanks are conducted to seek possible improvements in design such resist earthquakes. The study is carried out three phases: 1) a detailed theoretical treatment liquid-shell system, 2) an investigation characteristics full-scale tanks, 3) development improved design-procedure based on approximate analysis. Natural frequencies vibration associated mode shapes found through use discretization scheme which elastic shell modeled by finite elements fluid region treated as continuum boundary solution techniques. In this approach, number unknowns substantially less than those analyses where both tank wall subdivided into elements. A method presented compute earthquake response perfect circular irregular tanks; it superposition free lateral vibrational modes. Detailed numerical examples illustrate applicability effectiveness analysis investigate with widely different properties. Ambient forced tests water determine their characteristics. Comparison previously computed shows good agreement results, thus confirming reliability analysis. Approximate solutions also developed provide practicing engineers simple, fast, sufficiently accurate tools for estimating seismic tanks.
