Spectrum, Complications and Outcome of Acute Pediatric Poisoning

摘要: This prospective study was aimed to pattern and outcome of childhood poisoning at a tertiary care centre in North India. All pediatric patients admitted with during 2012 2013 were included, socio-demographic clinical details the recorded. Acute reported 104 children aged 9 months 16 years period. They constituted 2.6% total admissions Males 58 (56%) females 46 (44%). The mean age 5 (9 months-16 years). Poisoning suicidal 11 (10.6%) accidental 93 (89.4%). Cholinesterase inhibitor (ChEI) compounds (n = 27, 26%) kerosene 23, 21%) most common agents responsible for poisoning. ChEI snake envenomation associated more complications. Overall mortality (4.8%); 4 died one bite. In patients, higher who had poisoning, seizures or required mechanical ventilation.
