Residential mobility, neighbourhood quality and life-course events

摘要: Neighbourhood characteristics affect the social and economic opportunities of their residents. While a number studies have analysed housing adjustments at different life stages, little is known about neighbourhood quality adjustments. Based on model optimal consumption we analyse determinants residential mobility made by those who move, drawing data from British Household Panel Survey Indices Multiple Deprivation. We measure both subjectively objectively find that not all life-course events trigger moves lead to Single people are negatively affected leaving parental home couples husband s unemployment. Couples having new baby move into better neighbourhoods.
