摘要: Stress- and trauma-related disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), are characterized by an increased sensitivity to threat cues. Given that detection is a critical function of olfaction combat trauma commonly associated with burning odors, we sought better understanding general olfactory as well response specific (i.e. burning) odors in combat-related PTSD. Trauma-exposed veterans (N = 22) without 25) PTSD were assessed for odor sensitivities using variety tools. Both groups had similar thresholds. However, the PTSD, compared comparable exposure, but ratings intensity, negative valence, odor-triggered symptoms, along blunted heart rate rubber odor. These findings discussed within context healthy versus pathological changes processing occur over time after psychological trauma.
